There are some rules you must follow when you cover a classic, the most important of which is to stay true, in some aspect, to the original. That being said, I like this joint... I like it a lot!! Vocally, Seal stays true to the Sam Cooke original but he still manages to throw his own personal flair into the mix. The standout of this cover is the improvement on the production. The string symphony and the whole live-sounding instrumental just adds to the uplift of the song. Props to Seal for really paying honor to a classic in a most appropriate time. This song can be found on Seal's sixth album, Soul, which is full of classic covers. It's in stores now (I think I'll be pickin up a copy...).
