As customary with the American Idol winners, the sophomore album usually sees more maturity in the Idols' sound and content. Such is the case with Jordin Sparks. She performed Battlefield live on this season of the show, and I was really feeling the strength of this record when. she premiered it. Her self-titled debut was pretty good, but spotty at best - not an album I could play straight through. I'm expecting this album to center her more in her lane as an artist. Nice power ballad to lead the way for her sophomore set, which coincidentally bears the same title as this single. Due in stores July 14.
