FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Lauryn Hill – Sweetest Thing

Posted by on Jul 30, 2010

Timeless? Yep. Classic? Double yep. Lauryn Hill dropped a new joint on us earlier this week with Repercussions so I thought it timely and appropriate to reflect on her classic hits from the late 90’s. Sweetest Thing came to us from the soundtrack of the 1997 film Love Jones. The vocals have Lauryn’s classic warmth and smooth tone, the lyrics are as poetic as the movie. Not sure about you guys, but I damn sure miss the trifecta that was Lauryn Hill. Come back to...

NEW MUSIC: Mike Posner – Bow Chicka Wow Wow

Posted by on Jul 30, 2010

In my quest to become familiar with new artist Mike Posner, I ran across this song on his MySpace page. Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed with anything else I heard on there, including his cover of John Mayer’s I Don’t Trust Myself. But this, Bow Chicka Wow Wow stood out for me. Okay, I’ll admit,  it was the title at first that caught my attention, but this is actually a pretty good song, penned by Bruno Mars and The Smeezingtons. It’s set to...

VIDEO: Mike Posner Performs on ‘America’s Got Talent’

Posted by on Jul 29, 2010

I’m still trying to figure out why there’s so much hype surrounding this guy… Granted, this is the only song I’ve heard by him, but it’s not amazing. Even in this performance, the band pretty much outshines him, it’s a good thing he didn’t perform to a track or this would’ve truly failed. It’s a decent performance though, I just don’t get the ranting and raving over Mike Posner…maybe I’ll research....

TRY THIS: Katie Thompson – Heaven Is A Place On Earth

Posted by on Jul 29, 2010

Everyone should hear this!! On this week’s episode of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, contestant Robert and all-star Kathryn did a contemporary dance routine to this amazing song by Katie Thompson. She put a very soulful spin on Belinda Carlisle’s classic Heaven Is A Place on Earth. The original was an 80’s pop hit that rose to #1 on the Billboard charts; I can honestly say this remake has the potential to do the same. Thompson really pulls out the...

NEW JOINT: Kid Cudi Boasts His ‘Mojo So Dope’, Pushes Album Back

Posted by on Jul 29, 2010

Cudi fans will have to wait a bit longer for Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, as it suffers yet another delay to its release date (Now set to  October 26). In the meantime, check out Mojo So Dope, a rather monotone track that sounds very similar to much of the work on his debut album. Honestly, I had to listen to this record a few times because nothing about it really grabbed my attention. I’m just not that into this one from Cudi, and the fact that it...
